Hastings Aquarium and Seaside Trip
Our school trip day had finally arrived much to the delight of Year 1 - We had been counting down the days!
We began our trip with big smiles as we climbed on the coach. It was one of the most exciting parts of the day when the coach began to move and we were off on our first school trip! It wasn't long after a few games of 'Eye Spy' that we arrived.
We started our trip with a tour of the aquarium by an Aquarist called Allie. She spoke in detail about each of the tanks and we had the opportunity to ask questions. We saw Blackberry the Fly River Turtle, Larry the Lobster and Spud the Pufferfish. We saw the venomous tank and learnt the difference between the words 'poisonous' and 'venomous'. We met the octopus and he even waved a tentacle at us from his cave! We learnt that he has 3 hearts and blue blood. We continued round to the tunnel where we had to take a deep breath and pretend to dive in! We saw some sharks and catfish. Allie's favourite fish was Ralph, a baby porcupine pufferfish. We watched Allie feed the Archerfish and it was funny to watch them spouting out lots of water.
Then we went to find a nice spot on the sea front to have our lunch. We enjoyed some yummy chips too. It was a super day and we were so proud of all of the children. Well done Year 1!
